North Hills accounting students compete at Geneva College

Posted Sunday, April 21, 2024

Sixteen students from Kellee Kanith’s Accounting 1 and CHS Accounting 2 classes spent the day at Geneva College for an accounting and business competition and case study on April 18.

The competition included 12 teams from seven local schools and over 100 students. Students were broken into teams of eight. Their first task was to visit game and activity stations throughout campus where they had to work as a team and complete challenges to earn clues to help solve their case. Once they secured all six clues, they were given a case study and five questions to help them analyze and develop a solution for the case.

The teams had 30 minutes to prepare. Both teams worked diligently to solve the case and divided the speaking roles for their presentations.

Each team presented their summary of the problem and their ideas for resolutions to a panel of judges

Both teams represented North Hills well, and one of our North Hills teams placed 2nd in the competition, earning a trophy and some Geneva swag to bring home!

Participants were quite enthusiastic and enjoyed the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge and skills to solve a real-world case study.
