The new addition to West View Elementary School along Chalfonte Avenue will open on Monday, March 4. With the new addition comes the new front entrance and main office, closing the temporary main office located off the gym and changing the school’s arrival and dismissal procedures back to how they were prior to construction.

Buses will drop off and pick up on Chalfonte Avenue and students will enter the school through the new main entrance, which is located just to the left of where our old main entrance was.

Walkers will also enter through the new main entrance on Chalfonte. The current entrances and exits for walkers along Bellevue Avenue and Perry Highway will close. All walkers will enter and dismiss through the new main entrance on Chalfonte.

Procedures for car riders remain unchanged. Car riders should still be dropped off and picked up in the rear of the building at the auditorium entrance. Drivers must enter the back parking lot at arrival and dismissal from Bellevue Avenue.

In addition to the new main entrance and main office, there are offices for principals Mr. Simpson and Ms. Hoch and counselor Mr. Z, and a brand new health suite for Ms. Reif in the new portion of the building. There are also new classrooms, along with our new library and media center on the top floor. There will be extra staff on hand to assist students in navigating the building on March 4.

One of the most exciting and visually appealing features is the brand new central staircase just inside the new main entrance. The staircase connects all three floors of the building.

Once the new addition opens, classrooms on the west side of the building along Perry Highway will be vacated so the next phase of construction can begin. Details will be shared as necessary.
