  • North Hills High School student on Jan. 21
  • 2 West View Elementary School students on Jan. 23*
  • North Hills High School teacher on Jan. 24

Presumed positive cases are marked with an asterisk.

Additionally, five student cases were recorded in the new “Virtual Students” case count on our COVID-19 tracker. These students are NHSD students but have not been in school in-person and thus do not count toward their building’s 14-day total.

The virtual student cases were added on Jan. 11, Jan. 13, Jan. 19 and Jan. 21. There were two virtual students who received a presumptive positive diagnosis on Jan. 13.

Reading the COVID-19 Tracker

As previously communicated, the COVID-19 tracker has been expanded to now include each building’s most recent 14-day case count.

Please note: The 14-day case count can be greater than the active case count. Cases are only considered active for 10 days per the CDC guidelines. Once a case has passed the 10-day mark it is removed from the active case count, but still included in the 14-day case count for an additional four days.

Just below the building’s 14-day count is a visual representation of how close a building is to needing to be evaluated for possible closure.

Please watch the video below for further explanation.

If a school closes and shifts to virtual, the school will reopen as soon as the building is cleaned and contract tracing is completed. This could be just 1-2 days. When the building reopens the case count resets to zero.
