NHSD records 3 new COVID-19 cases over Thanksgiving break

Posted Sunday, November 29, 2020

PITTSBURGH -- Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the North Hills School District learned of three new district COVID-19 cases:

  • A McIntyre Elementary School teacher who was last in school on Nov. 16.
  • A North Hills Middle School staff member who was last in school on Nov. 17.
  • A Ross Elementary School student who was last in school on Nov. 17.

After reviewing the timeline and details of each case, the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) has determined no additional action is necessary by the district.

As a reminder, our district COVID-19 Tracker has been updated to now show active cases in the district and each building for the last 14 days instead of 10. This change will allow us to more efficiently keep track of cases in our schools in accordance with the recently released state guidance while being as transparent as possible for our families and staff members.

When a student or staff member tests positive or is presumptive positive for COVID-19, the school principal and/or school nurse should be contacted immediately -- even when buildings are closed or the district is operating in the Virtual model. This will ensure we have the most accurate information regarding COVID-19 in our district. Please click here for complete guidance.
