NHSD Board of Education Approves 2017-18 Budget
North Hills School District Board of Education members approved the district’s 2017-18 final budget during their June 8 legislative meeting. With expenditures totaling $79,193,692, the budget allows North Hills to continue to provide quality educational programs and facilities for district students. The budget has revenues of $77,896,299 and will be balanced with a $1,297,393 transfer from the district’s fund balance that was specifically set aside to counteract state-mandated increases in pension contributions. 
Congratulations! North Hills Awards 384 Diplomas to Class of 2017
Commencement exercises for the Class of 2017 were held on May 26 at Martorelli Stadium. Class members earned in excess of $4.2 million in scholarship awards, setting a North Hills record by more than $600,000. Nearly 40 percent of the Class of 2017 graduated with a QPA of 3.5 or higher. Student speakers for the ceremony were Hannah Ashoff, Allina Molinaro, Anna McConnell and David Reith. 
Summer Food Service Program Sites Throughout Area Provide Free Meals to Children
USDA Summer Food Service Program sites sponsored by the National School Lunch Program are available across the area. Meals will be provided to all children age 18 or younger without charge in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. There are no advance sign-ups and no reservations needed! Just stop by! 
Join With The Polito Family from Highcliff Elementary to Fight Cystic Fibrosis
Highcliff Elementary third-graders Giovanni and Armani Polito along with their father, Frank, are dedicating the summer of 2017 to spreading awareness and raising money to find a cure for those with cystic fibrosis. They need your help! Together, they are nominating and challenging everyone to perform a talent on social media or donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Got Talent Challenge! Remember the ice bucket challenged? It’s the same idea, but this time you get to stay warm and dry while demonstrating your hidden talent. 
Eighth-Graders on Team Heinz Create Oral History iBook Series Using Project Connect iPads
Eighth-graders on Team Heinz at North Hills Middle School used iPads from Project Connect to tackle the grade’s expansive research project in a whole new way and added four volumes to a new Team Heinz Oral History iBook Series!
