McIntyre Elementary School English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher Susan Vaughn has received the 2023 World of Gratitude Award from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU).
The award is presented annually to a K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) professional in the AIU’s K-12 ESL Program for demonstrating an exemplary level of professionalism and dedication to students and staff while displaying leadership, expertise and compassion.
Mrs. Vaughn is in her sixth year teaching at McIntyre.
“Susan is so deserving of this award!” said McIntyre Principal Dr. Michelle Spingola. “She approaches all aspects of teaching and learning with the best interests of her students in mind. Susan is an outstanding teacher, and we are so grateful to have her at McIntyre!”
Mrs. Vaughn was surprised with the award during a faculty meeting at McIntyre on May 10.
“I am just so grateful to be here everyday with all of you and all of our students and thank you so much. This was such a surprise,” she said.
