North Hills High School junior
Katharine McGoey has been named among Trib Total Media's Outstanding Young Citizens for 2023.
At North Hills, Katharine is a member of National Honor Society and German National Honor Society and participates in Chamber Orchestra and North Hills Singers. She is also a member of Stand Together, Student Ambassadors and the Future Teachers of America club. Outside of school, volunteers her time and is involved with several charity organizations.
After high school, Katharine plans to attend college to study elementary education and secondary education in history.
“I’ve been blessed with many teachers who have challenged, encouraged, and helped me to succeed as a student and as a person, and I’d like to be that kind of teacher for others,” she said. “I especially hope to be an educator who supports students who struggle and who gives them opportunities to cope, to be hopeful, and to be prepared for the future.”

Outstanding Young Citizen Award. Awardees are high school juniors and seniors who show exemplary character and leadership, go above and beyond within their community and excel in the classroom.
