More than 70 students said "Yes to the dress!” at the North High School SADD Club’s first-ever prom dress resale event held March 22, 2023.
At $20 a dress, the event raised nearly $1,500 for North Hills Cares, a local charity that helps families in need.
North Hills High School teacher and SADD Club sponsor Michelle Medic challenged her students to come up with an idea for a new charity event this year that enabled them to give back to the North Hills community.
She told
TribLive.com reporter Paul Guggenheimer, “They came up with this prom (dress) resale idea. We’ve never done it here at North Hills High School, and we haven’t seen it being done around (the area). So, we said, 'Why not go for this?'"
The event was held in the high school cafeteria and included a “Say Yes to the Dress!” photo booth, food and music. There was also festive decor and dressing rooms for students to try the dresses on.
In total, nearly 300 dresses were collected from the community for the event.
North Hills High School’s prom will be held on May 13.
