North Hills students to compete in SkillsUSA state competition

Several North Hills High School students will compete in the state SkillsUSA competition taking place next month in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Seniors Maggie Adkins, Michael Fuchs and Reilly Welsh placed first or second at the SkillsUSA District 8 competition in January, earning them a spot in the state competition.

  • Reilly Welsh (Pastry Arts) - Gold in Commercial Baking
  • Michael Fuchs (Emergency Response Technology) - Silver in Firefighting
  • Maggie Adkins (Sports Medicine & Rehab Therapy) - Silver in Prepared Speech

Additionally, senior Brooke Campbell served as the model for Hampton Township senior Madison McCabe, who earned a gold medal in esthetics.

North Hills senior and A.W. Beattie Advertising Design student Nick Shultz will also compete in states, April 12-14, as part of the Career Pathways Showcase competition.

Nick, along with Mia Burnett of Avonworth and Primrose Sobeck from Northgate, developed a branding package for the North Hills School District complete with logos, wordmarks, colors and custom font styles designed exclusively for the district. Read more about their project here.
