New Student & Grade 9 Orientation Presentation

Interested incoming Grade 9 families or those new to the district are invited to attend a short orientation presentation from counselors and administrators at one of the times indicated above. The presentation will highlight important aspects of the student handbook, review some keys to success, and provide a starting point for your self-guided tour, including how to read your schedule. It is not required to attend this presentation to participate in the self-guided tour.

Self-Guided Tours

The high school building will be open to all students on the dates and times indicated above. Students are welcome to explore the school building with a family member, find their classrooms, and practice opening their lockers. We encourage students to “walk their schedule” so they are more comfortable moving from one room to the next on the first day of school. Student Ambassadors will be located throughout the building during tour hours to assist and answer questions.

SHOtime

North Hills SHOtime ‘21 has been established to help ease the transition back to school for all interested students. SHOtime takes our traditional high school orientation one step further to help give students a level of confidence and comfort with being in the school building before the true first day of school.

This summer, as we emerge from a challenging year of COVID restrictions and virtual learning, SHOtime is open to all interested students, regardless of grade. Activities, including tie-dying, mindfulness practice, Q&A time with Student Ambassadors, and so much more, will focus primarily on community building. These two days present a unique opportunity for students to shake off the summer rust and spend some time mentally preparing for high school. Students should plan to attend both days of SHOtime, if possible, but are permitted to attend only one. Register to attend here.

We also encourage new families to attend one of the New Student & Grade 9 Orientation Presentation sessions at 8 a.m. or 5 p.m. on each of the two SHOtime days.
