NHMS Principal David Lieberman retiring after 2020-21 school year

North Hills Middle School principal David Lieberman will retire following the 2020-21 school year.

David Lieberman

Mr. Lieberman joined the North Hills School District in 1997 as a high school math teacher. He taught at North Hills High School for 10 years before being promoted to assistant principal at the high school.

Two years later, in 2008, Mr. Lieberman was appointed principal at Ross Elementary School, a position he held for seven years before being named the principal of North Hills Middle School in 2015.

“We congratulate David and thank him for his years of service to this district,” said Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino.

As a teacher, Mr. Lieberman served as the curriculum leader for math. He was active in student activities including sponsor for the high school’s computer and math clubs as well as head coach for the varsity golf team.

During his time as principal at Ross, the school recorded a School Performance Profile of 97.1, placing it in the top one percent of elementary schools in the state. He also helped implement a program to reinforce character-building.

At NHMS, Lieberman was instrumental in the school gaining its status as an Apple Distinguished School first in 2016 and then again in 2019. Each designation period runs three years.

Mr. Lieberman earned his master’s degree in education as well as his K-12 Principal Certification from California University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his teacher certification in secondary mathematics education from LaRoche College and his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

Before becoming an educator, he worked nearly 10 years in engineering and computer science.

Mr. Lieberman’s last day will be July 31. We wish him all the best in his retirement.
