Spring musical 'Songs for a New World' to be streamed online April 16-17

The North Hills High School Drama Club’s spring musical “Songs for a New World” will be shown online on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17. The pre-recorded and edited show will be streamed as a “live” event beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets can be purchased for $10 per device online at showtix4u.com.

About Songs for a New World

This contemporary song cycle weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery. It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice... or take a stand... or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love, and the choices that we make.

About the NHHS Production

In addition to the song cycle featuring singers and dancers, the streamed production will include performances of several monologues that fit thematically with the songs. Students performers were coached via Zoom, and the monologues will be presented before each act of the show. Rehearsals have taken place following all COVID protocols outlined in the NHSD Athletic & Activities Return to Play Safety Plan. Recording took place over a 4-day period to limit the number of students in one location. Students who have experience from participation in the high school TV production classes coordinated video recording and editing of the final product under the supervision of the directors.
