North Hills School District has appointed LaMont Lyons as new principal of North Hills Middle School.

Mr. Lyons’ contract was approved by the NHSD Board of Education at their committee meeting with action on June 3.

Mr. Lyons began his career in education as a middle school language arts teacher at Ringgold Middle School in 2004, where he also served as a football, basketball and softball coach.

He spent four years as an assistant high school principal/alternative education principal at Woodland Hills High School, four years as an assistant principal at Chartiers Valley Middle School and the past two years as an assistant principal at City Charter High School in Pittsburgh.

“Mr. Lyons will begin his employment with the district next week and we are happy and excited to welcome him to the North Hills family,” Superintendent Dr. Patrick Mannarino said Thursday night in announcing the appointment.

Mr. Lyons graduated from California University of PA with a BS in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Educational Leadership.

He replaces David Lieberman who announced his retirement after the school year earlier this spring.
