PSAT/NMSQT to be held at North Hills Oct. 16; Register by Sept. 3

North Hills students in grades 10 and 11 will have the opportunity this fall to take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills, and is a great tool for students considering college. North Hills High School offers the PSAT/NMSQT to allow students to receive feedback about strengths and weaknesses, enter the competition for National Merit Scholar scholarships (Grade 11) and to help prepare for the SAT.

North Hills will administer the PSAT/NMSQT on Saturday, October 16. Students must register online by Friday, Sept. 3 at 11 p.m. No tests can be ordered after September 3 for any reason.

The cost of the exam is $30. There is a $12.00 discount for any eleventh grade student who qualifies for the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch Program.

To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Students should use their NHSD Gmail account for registration. Registration is not complete until payment is submitted and students have printed or saved the PDF of the confirmation page provided at the end. Register online here.

On the test day, test takers will be responsible for their own transportation. Additional information regarding test day procedures and schedules will be provided to registered students via email closer to the test date.

Please contact Hanna Mincemoyer, [email protected], if you have questions or require additional financial assistance.

Grade 9 GATE students will also have the opportunity to test on October 16. These students should NOT follow the same registration process outlined. More information about this specific test will be forthcoming from the GATE teachers.
