Highcliff Elementary teacher positive for COVID-19

PITTSBURGH -- The North Hills School District learned on Thursday morning, Sept. 24, that a Highcliff Elementary School teacher has tested positive for COVID-19.

The teacher has not been in the building since last Thursday, Sept. 17, and the teacher’s symptoms did not appear until several days later. No one from the district was in contact with the teacher and no further action is necessary at this time.

While there is no district impact, we are sharing this information with families for transparency as stated in our health and safety plan and so everyone is familiar with our notification process when a COVID-19 case occurs within the district once students return to the classroom.

In addition, we have updated our new COVID-19 case tracker.

The chart, also posted below, shows all NHSD COVID-19 cases to date since the start of the 2020-21 school year and will be updated when there is a new confirmed case or an active case is cleared per guidance of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Cases highlighted in blue are no longer active cases in the district.

To date, the district has had five confirmed COVID-19 cases. Three remain active.
