3 additional North Hills students positive for COVID-19

PITTSBURGH -- We have three new COVID-19 cases in our district to report:

  • Two North Hills High School students who were last in school on Oct. 27.
  • A North Hills Middle School student who was last in school on Nov. 4.

The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) has been provided with full details surrounding each case and in all three cases, symptoms did not appear until several days after their last day in school.

However, like yesterday, some NHSD students will be required to quarantine because they came in close contact with at least one of the students above outside of school. NHSD has contacted those families directly at the request of the ACHD.

As a reminder, the ACHD is responsible for quarantining individuals, not the district. However, due to the heavy county caseload, the district has agreed to assist in notifying families in order to make sure all information is received in a timely manner.

No additional action by the district is necessary at this time.

As cases surge in the county, families, students and staff members are reminded to be extra vigilant about their health. If a student, district employee or family member develops any of the signs or symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home. Students can forgo their in-person days and join their classes remotely at any time for any reason.

Everyone should also take the same precautions we have in place at school when in public. Please wear a mask, maintain a safe social distance from others and wash your hands frequently.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. The actions you take outside of school will help ensure we can safely keep your students in school.
