Counseling services to continue, resources available following death of student

PITTSBURGH -- Counseling services will continue for all students and staff members for as long as necessary following the heartbreaking death of a North Hills High School student.

Dylan Paclawski, 17, passed away on Jan. 6, 2021. He was a junior at the high school and member of the marching band, wind ensemble and jazz band.

"The loss of a student is immeasurably tragic for our community and we send our deepest sympathies and condolences to the student's family," NHSD said in an email to families announcing the death.

"On behalf of the NHIPA, marching band and the entire North Hills music community, we are deeply heartbroken by this immeasurable loss of a fellow musician, friend, student and most importantly, son. Our band family is forever changed," added Stephanie Ivanusic, president of the North Hills Instrumental Music Parents Association.

In the coming days and weeks, NHSD will be focused on providing the appropriate support and services. Counseling and grief services will be available at the high school on school days from 7:20 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. A Zoom session will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Click here to join.
