Ross teacher Samantha Sulek receives LifeChanger of the Year nomination
Teacher Samantha Sulek holds a large sign announcing her as a 2019-20 LifeChanger of the Year nominee.PITTSBURGH -- Ross Elementary sixth grade teacher Samantha Sulek is in the running to become a 2019-20 LifeChanger of the Year.

National Life Group’s LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards K-12 educators and school employees across the country.

Nominees are individuals who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.

Sulek was nominated by a parent of one of her students, Marnie O'Connor.

"My son was not a child who wanted to go to school until he was in Ms. Sulek's class," O'Connor wrote. “Something happened in sixth grade that completely changed his attitude towards school.”

She concluded, "I can't thank her enough for changing my son's attitude toward school. It made the middle school transition so much easier for him! She is definitely a LifeChanger!"

There will be 16 total winners selected and announced in January: a Grand Prize winner, 4 Grand Prize Finalists, 10 LifeChangers and a LifeChanger Spirit Winner.

Winners receive both a cash prize and cash donation made to their school.

Nominations are still being accepted for the 2019-20 school year.  The nomination period closes Dec. 31, 2019.
