North Hills girls basketball team gives back, shops for students in need
NHHS Girls Basketball team shopping at Target

PITTSBURGH -- The North Hills High School girls basketball team participated in the West View Snowman Project for the third straight year this year.

Each player donated money and shopped for two children who participate in the program.

The girls had a lot of fun deciding what to buy for each child.

The Snowman Project is run by West View Elementary School guidance counselor John Zawalnicki and provides gifts to children in need for the holiday.

Similar to an angel tree, teachers, staff members and community organizations select a snowman with a child’s name and purchase presents for that child. Families provide gift ideas.

This year, 35 children will receive presents as part of the program, which began in 2016.

Families who participate also receive food from the West View Student Council’s annual food drive.
