PITTSBURGH -- The North Hills School District Board of Education voted to approve a revised academic calendar for the 2020-21 school year at the continuation of their June 11 legislative meeting on June 30, 2020.
The calendar keeps the first day of school for students as Aug. 25 but moves the first day for teachers from Aug. 18 to Aug. 13 to allow for extra professional development.
The calendar also omits a teacher Act 80 (in-service) day on Oct. 12 and two vacation days in March, March 12 and March 31.
The last day of school is now before Memorial Day, on Thursday, May 27, as is graduation, which will take place on Friday, May 28. Both dates are a week earlier than the previously approved calendar.
