Band & Orchestra Demonstration Night for rising fourth-graders set for May 2

Posted Tuesday, April 26, 2022

Is your third-grader interested in playing an instrument next year? Join us on Monday, May 2 in the North Hills Middle School auditorium at 7 p.m. for our annual elementary band and orchestra demonstration night.

The night will include a short presentation about our elementary instrumental music program followed by a demonstration of each instrument offered in fourth grade. The night will also include a question and answer session. Parents and students are welcome!

The following instruments are offered to elementary students:

  • Brass Family: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba
  • Percussion Family: Total Percussion (Orchestra Bells, Snare Drum and Bass Drum)
  • String Family: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
  • Woodwind Family: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone

Instrument fittings will take place at each elementary school later this spring. During fittings, our music teachers aim to match students to instruments that fit both their preference and specific physical and musical considerations. Students will be given the opportunity to try up to three instruments and will be sent home with a recommendation from our teachers.
