The North Hills School District is saddened to learn of the passing of longtime North Hills  school board member and lifelong district resident Lou Nudi.Lou Nudi

Mr. Nudi served on the North Hills Board of Education from 2007 to 2019. During his 12-year tenure, he served as vice president in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and also served on the PSBA Nominating Committee and Legislative Platform Committee.

Born and raised in West View, Mr. Nudi graduated from West View High School in 1957 and later attended Valley Forge Military College and the University of Pittsburgh.

He served seven years in the United States Army and was a captain during the Vietnam War.

He was honorably discharged in 1968 and returned to the North Hills where he went on to raise his two sons, Christopher and Michael, both of whom are graduates of North Hills High School.

Michael called his father a “proud member of the community” who really enjoyed his time on the school board and attending school events.

For years, Mr. Nudi attended the North Hills Middle School’s annual Veterans Day roundtable event where local veterans shared their experiences, showed off memorabilia and answered questions from students. It was these meaningful interactions with students that exemplify the person Lou was to the North Hills School District.

“Those who knew Lou know how much he loved this district and its students,” said Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino. “His lifelong contributions as not only a dedicated public servant but as a devoted community member and proud father impacted many and he will be missed.”
