Eight A.W. Beattie students including two from North Hills took home four state championships at the Pennsylvania SkillsUSA Conference held in Hersey earlier this month.
The students will now move on to the National SkillsUSA Conference in Atlanta in June.
North Hills senior and Beattie advertising design student Nick Schultz along with classmates Mia Burnett of Avonworth and Primrose Sobeck of Northgate placed first in the Career Pathways Showcase Arts and Communication category with the branding package they developed exclusively for the North Hills School District. The package includes logos, wordmarks, colors and font styles and was unveiled to school board members in March.
North Hills junior Austin Kessler’s Career Pathways Showcase team finished in first place in the Industrial and Engineering Technology category and they will also compete at Nationals this summer.
A third North Hills student, senior Reilly Welsh, placed third in the state competition in Baking and Pastry Arts.
