Posted Saturday, April 1, 2023

This year’s PMEA District 1 Junior High Chorus Festival was set to be held at South Fayette High School on April 14-15. Due to the sprinkler system accident that caused water damage to the stage in mid-March, the South Fayette auditorium became unavailable to hold the event. North Hills music teachers offered the North Hills Middle School auditorium to host.

The junior high chorus festival is open to students in grades 7, 8, and 9 and participants are selected by teacher recommendation and selection committee. Over 150 students from 60 schools will come together to make the festival ensemble.

North Hills has six students participating from the middle and high school choral programs:

  • Gwen Barkovich, Grade 8, Soprano
  • Olivia Ferezan, Grade 8, Alto
  • Marley Grenek, Grade 9, Alto
  • Christian Harris, Grade 8, Baritone
  • Jaiden Latsko, Grade 8, Baritone
  • Adelaide Seigworth, Grade 9, Soprano

The concert takes place on Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in the middle school auditorium and will be led by guest conductor Shawn Funk, artistic director of the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus. Admission is $5 cash at the door.
