The North Hills School District will welcome Dr. Yvonne Hawkins to the North Hills Middle School administrative team beginning August 30. Dr. Hawkins will serve as the school's substitute principal while Principal LaMont Lyons is on medical leave.
Dr. Hawkins has spent more than 40 years in education having served as a teacher in the South Butler School District, a principal in the Pine-Richland School District and an assistant superintendent in the Chartiers Valley School District.
In 2017, she retired but quickly realized she couldn’t completely remove herself from helping students so she joined Point Park University where she currently serves as a student teacher supervisor, adjunct professor and as a member of many doctoral dissertation committees.
“I am excited for the new school year and the learning opportunities that will be presented to our students,” said Dr. Hawkins, adding, “I feel so privileged to be asked to work with you to support our students, teachers, staff, parents and community in order to accomplish the goals of the middle school building and the North Hills School District.”
Dr. Hawkins lives in Marshall Township with her husband. They have two adult children and three grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, working out, traveling and watching sports. She also volunteers at her church, a local cooking school and a local hospital.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Hawkins! She can be reached via email [email protected] or by phone at 412-318-1451.
As previously communicated, Principal Lyons is on a medical leave of absence. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him rejoining our middle school team in the future.
