Summer course registration for grades 7-12 opens Monday, May 17

Posted Sunday, May 16, 2021

Registration opens Monday, May 17, for all summer courses for students in grades 7-12. Register online.

There are three different summer learning opportunities: credit recovery, enrichment and tutorials. All classes are $100.

Credit Recovery (Grades 7-12)

The credit recovery program is designed for students that have failed one or more of their core courses (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) during the previous school year. Successful completion of the credit recovery course will allow the failing transcript grade to be adjusted. Credit recovery courses will be online and asynchronous. Registration will close on June 10.

Summer Enrichment (Grades 9-11)

The summer enrichment program is designed for high school students that would like to alleviate scheduling conflicts in the upcoming school year. Students may take Health, Physical Education, Psychology, and Sociology courses during the summer for transcript credit. Enrichment courses will be online and asynchronous. Registration will close on Friday, May 21.

Summer Tutorials (Grades 7-12)

The summer tutorial program is designed for students who have completed and passed one of the offered core courses (Math, Science, Social Studies, and English) during the 2020-21 school year, but desire additional instruction. Successfully completing the summer tutorial course will result in a 10 percent boost to the student’s final grade in the course taken during the 2020-21 school year. Tutorial courses will be in person. Registration will close on Friday, May 21.

Grade 6
Students who qualify can participate in the middle school’s sixth grade literacy and math summer programs. These refresher courses are similar to the elementary-level literacy and math summer programs. Invitations have been sent to students who qualify based on their learning needs.

Grades 1-5
Students who qualify were notified and have already registered, as previously communicated.

Summer iPads

All North Hills School District students can keep their iPads over the summer and SHOULD if they are participating in one of NHSD’s summer learning programs detailed above.
