NHHS boys basketball program temporarily shut down after COVID-19 case

PITTSBURGH -- The North Hills High School boys’ basketball program is shut down after a player tested positive for COVID-19. The temporary shutdown impacts both the JV and varsity teams.

The student-athlete was last with his teammates on Wednesday, Feb. 17, and received the positive test result late Thursday night, Feb. 18.

As directed by the Allegheny County Health Department, all student-athletes present at Wednesday’s varsity game and one staff member are required to quarantine as a result of the case. All high school boys basketball practices and games are canceled until Sunday, Feb. 28.

Little Dribblers

Little Dribblers, the district’s youth basketball program, is run by the high school boys basketball program. The last session of the season was scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 20. It is canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Additional Cases

Three additional North Hills High School student cases were added to the COVID-19 tracker since our last email communication on Feb. 16. Two of the cases were tracked with a Feb. 13 date and the third case with a date of Feb. 17.
