PITTSBURGH -- North Hills Middle School sixth grade STEAM teacher Anthony Burns has been named the NHL, NHLPA and EVERFI's Most Valuable Teacher for the month of January.

Mr. Burns was surprised at school in early February and presented with a check that will fund $10,000 worth of technology devices for the district.

Mr. Burns was the Pittsburgh Penguins' Teacher of the Month last October and was nominated as Most Valuable Teacher as part of the NHL and the NHLPA and SAP's Future Goals program.

Families, students and members of the community then voted him, one of just 20 nominees in the country, as January's winner. He now moves on to the finals later this school year.

Congratulations, Mr. Burns!
