NHMS teachers take part in WQED Support our Schools project

PITTSBURGH -- North Hills Middle School teachers Kris Proctor and Joe Welch took part in WQED’s Support our Schools project creating English, math, science and social studies video lessons for students in grades 7-8.

The project, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, aims at bringing educational programming free of charge to children across the state who might not have cable TV or access to the internet.

The videos are online now and will air this Thursday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. on WQED’s Showcase Channel, which is accessible without cable on channel 13.4.

Videos were also created for grades K-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 9-12 and will premiere as follows on WQED’s Showcase Channel:

  • Grades K-2: Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.
  • Grades 3-4: Oct. 20 at 3 p.m.
  • Grades 5-6: Oct. 21 at 3 p.m.
  • Grades 7-8: Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.
  • Grades 9-12: Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.

The programming will repeat often and is also available online now.

Mr. Proctor and Mr. Welch are both eighth grade teachers at the middle school. Teachers from the Greater Johnstown and South Fayette school districts also participated in the project.
