COVID-19 Tracker & Closure Guidance

Our COVID-19 Tracker is continuously updated as new cases are communicated to us. Email updates are sent periodically as necessary. Please refer to the tracker for the most current case information.

Beginning Monday, when NHSD shifts back to Hybrid, the COVID-19 Tracker will include each building’s rolling 14-day case count and this number will be used to determine if a school must close. All buildings will begin with zero cases since the district has been fully Virtual.

The thresholds for each school as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education when Allegheny County is "substantial" for community transmission, as it currently remains, are follows:

West View Elementary School

  • Up to 4 cases: Close to clean and contract trace for time period not to exceed 7 days
  • 5+ cases: Close to clean and contract trace for time period not to exceed 14 days

Highcliff, McIntyre and Ross Elementary Schools

  • Up to 6 cases: Close to clean and contract trace for time period not to exceed 7 days
  • 7+ cases: Close to clean and contract trace for time period not to exceed 14 days

North Hills Middle and High Schools

  • Up to 9 cases: Close to clean and contract trace for time period not to exceed 7 days
  • 10+ cases: Close to clean and contract trace for time period not to exceed 14 days

Please note: A closed school will reopen as soon as cleaning and contract tracing is completed.

Reporting COVID-19 Cases

To ensure NHSD has the most accurate COVID-19 case counts, please continue to report all positive and presumptive positive student and staff member cases to the school principal and/or nurse.

We are hearing from our families sooner than the Allegheny County Health Department and appreciate your continued prompt communication.
