PITTSBURGH, May 2, 2019 -- The North Hills School District has named Heather Pelat Director of Communications and Development.

Pelat joins the district having spent most of her career in the local television news industry.

For nearly a decade, Pelat managed the website and social media at WKRN-TV in Nashville, Tennessee. Later, she worked for Media General, WKRN’s parent company, as senior content and social media manager, strategizing and sharing resources, guidelines and best practices with the company’s 48 stations.

More recently, she served as content marketing and social media manager for a Pittsburgh area technology integrator.

"I’m thrilled to work in the district where I live and where my children go to school,” said Pelat, who lives in Ross Township with her husband, Craig, and their two daughters, Ava and Maci. “I look forward to improving the district's website and social media to communicate and share not only important and pertinent information but stories and successes from across the community."

"We are very excited to welcome Heather to our team. Her enthusiasm, positive outlook and extensive experience in the communications industry will help us continue to tell the wonderful story of the North Hills School District,” said Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino.

Pelat grew up in eastern Pennsylvania but fell in love with Pittsburgh while attending college. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005 with a dual degree in Communication and Business.

She replaces Amanda Hartle, who left the district in April for a position at Carnegie Mellon University.

Pelat’s first day will be May 6. She can be reached at [email protected]
