NHMS course scheduling for 2020-21 to open Jan. 23

PITTSBURGH -- North Hills Middle School course scheduling for the 2020-21 school year will begin later this month for students currently in fifth, sixth and seventh grades. (Next year’s sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.)
The middle school’s 2020-21 program of studies is now available online and students and families can begin reviewing available courses.
To help new NHMS families prepare, Principal Mr. David Lieberman and Assistant Principal Mrs. Mary Grimm will be participating in meetings with current fifth and sixth grade families to discuss scheduling and the transition to middle school, and answer questions on the following dates:
- Jan. 7: West View Elementary, 6:30 p.m.
- Jan. 14: McIntyre Elementary, 6:30 p.m.
- Jan. 15: Ross Elementary, 6 p.m.
- Jan. 27: Highcliff Elementary, 6:30 p.m.
Presentations by middle school counselors will also be given to students as follows:
- Jan. 21-Jan. 27: Grade 7
- Jan. 27-Feb. 7: Grade 6
- Jan. 27-Feb. 7: Grade 5
Course scheduling will open in PowerSchool on Jan. 23. At this time, students can begin making course requests. All scheduling requests must be made through PowerSchool. The deadline for all schedule requests is Feb. 14.
On Feb. 18, course approval sheets will be sent to parents/guardians. Those approval sheets must be signed by the parent/guardian and are due back to the middle school by Feb. 28.
Final schedules with team assignments will be released in August prior to the first day of school on Aug. 25.
