16 North Hills seniors to play collegiate sports

PITTSBURGH (May 11, 2019) – Sixteen North Hills High School seniors graduating later this month will be playing collegiate sports in the fall.

The student-athletes were recognized during a reception Friday afternoon at the high school.

Among the athletes, three have signed a letter of intent: Lirion Murtezi will play football at the U.S. Naval Academy, Julea Jamison will play lacrosse at St. Francis University and Tyler Brennan will play football at the U.S Military Academy at West Point.

 

The student-athletes are as follows:

CROSS COUNTRY

Joey Buehner will attend Walsh University where he plans to study business.


SOFTBALL

Kallie Kretzler will attend Bethany College and study social work.

Madelyn Traub will study biochemistry at John Carroll University.


FOOTBALL

Jeff Behr will attend Seton Hill University where he plans to study exercise science.

Tyler Brennan will attend the U.S Military Academy at West Point where he plans to study business management.

Brandon Manning will study mechanical engineering at Case Western Reserve University.

Lirion Murtezi will attend the U.S. Naval Academy where he plans to study political science.


GIRLS LACROSSE

Julea Jamison will study occupational therapy at St. Francis University.


BOYS LACROSSE

Christian James will attend John Carroll University and study finance and economics.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Byron Spear plans to attend Geneva College where he will study communications and public relations.


BASEBALL

Second baseman Aiden Knupsky will attend Marywood University where he plans to study architecture.


CHEERLEADING

Megan Reichle will attend Akron University and plans to study nursing.

Brooke Salley plans to study criminology at California University of Pennsylvania.

Shalyn Szymczak will attend California University of Pennsylvania where she plans to study exercise science.


SWIMMING

Leah Trocchio will attend California University of Pennsylvania.

Before the recognitions, those in attendance heard from 2018 North Hills grad and girls’ lacrosse player Samantha Welsh who offered tips and words of advice about being a collegiate athlete. Welsh currently plays lacrosse at Edinboro University.
