Scott Scherer is a retired lieutenant who served 25 years with the Allegheny County Police Department in various capacities including patrol, general investigations and SWAT team, as well as 16 years as a detective and supervisor for the department’s homicide unit.
Officer Scherer obtained his bachelor's degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and also served in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps as a Russian linguist.
Why did you want to become a school police officer?
I wanted to become a school police officer to continue to serve the community in which I live.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is interacting with the students, staff and parents. I take great pride in being able to help others.
What are you most looking forward to about the job?
I am most looking forward to building good communication with students and watching them develop into productive members of our community.
