School Police Department

Mission Statement

The North Hills School District School Police shall protect and serve by monitoring and ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, community members, and property to create and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by fostering open channels of communications, teamwork, and relationship development with students, teachers, staff, administrators, parents, community resources, and local law enforcement to identify and resolve potential safety and security issues.

Chief of Police

Chuck Bossong

Police Chief Chuck Bossong is a veteran of the United States Marines and served 25 years with the Franklin Park Police Department before joining the North Hills School District Police Department in 2018.

Why did you want to become a school police officer?
I was not ready to completely retire from society. I wanted to continue having a positive impact on young people and enjoy still being on the front lines.

What is your favorite part of the job?
I love playing Chess and Checkers with the kids. I also enjoy teaching, especially when it has nothing to do with computers or phones.

What are you most looking forward to about the job?
Years down the road, when a student comes back as an adult, and thanks me for helping him or her.

Officers

Robert J. Lagoon

Officer Robert J. Lagoon is a retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper with 25 years police experience. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and joined the North Hills School District Police Department in 2018.

Why did you want to become a school police officer?
I wanted to be able to protect and serve the students, staff and administration and be a positive influence in the school.

What is your favorite part of the job?
Being able to communicate with the students.

What are you most looking forward to about the job?
Meeting and engaging the students creating a positive image of the school police or police in general.

Trina Loesch

Officer Trina Loesch served 31 years as a municipal police officer prior to coming to work at North Hills in 2018.

Why did you want to become a school police officer?
I enjoy working with kids and mentoring them.

What is your favorite part of the job?
I love being able to go into morning care and recess and talk to the kids and participate. I also like interacting with students, staff and administrators during the day.

What are you most looking forward to about the job?
I am most looking forward to meeting new people and seeing what North Hills School District is all about.

Robert “Mutch” Muchenski

Officer Robert "Mutch" Muchenski is a United States Army veteran who served 38 years with the Ross Township Police Department before joining the North Hills School District Police Department in 2018.

Why did you want to become a school police officer?
I worked for 20 years as a DARE officer and this was an excellent continuation of my career.

What is your favorite part of the job ?
Engaging the students and staff and showing them that police officers are just regular people that have an important and sometimes very difficult jobs to do.

What are you most looking forward to about the job?
Seeing and working with the kids every day.

Adam Steinheiser

Officer Adam Steinheiser is a retired Pennsylvania State Police sergeant with 25 years police experience. He joined the North Hills School District Police Department in 2018 and has a Bachelor of Arts from Geneva College.

Why did you want to become a school police officer?
When I heard about this position it seemed like it would be good fit for my background in law enforcement and teaching and allow to have a protective role as well as to take part in instructional activities.

What is your favorite part of the job?
I enjoy meeting and getting to know the staff and students. I also enjoy observing the educational process across all grades and disciplines.

What are you most looking forward to about the job?
I look forward to being able to conduct lessons in the classroom.

Alexis Vukela

Officer Lexi Vukela worked for the Evans City Seven Fields Regional Police Department and the Chatham University Police Department before joining the North Hills School District Police Department in 2019. She has her master’s degree in applied criminology.

Why did you want to become a school police officer?

I love the school atmosphere! I want the opportunity to mentor and educate students and being a school police officer is perfect for reaching these goals.

What is your favorite part of the job?

I really enjoy how I have the opportunity to build positive relationships with the students that I come in contact with every day.

What are you most looking forward to about the job?

I’m looking forward to the possible activities, presentations and programs that I can help create for the students and staff. There are so many possibilities!
