Standard Response Protocol

A uniform, planned and practiced response to any incident is the foundation of a safe school. North Hills School District follows the I Love You Guys Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP) — a set of research-based actions and drills that prepare students, staff and parents for emergency situations.

The SRP is action-based, flexible, and easy to learn. Its five possible actions — Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, and Hold — are practiced in every school once each semester. Clear signage outlining these actions is posted in all classrooms and throughout common areas. Ross Township police, West View police, West View Ross EMSA and other emergency service providers are trained on these emergency protocols and procedures.
