The first week of February is over, and the winter sports regular season nearly is as well. With playoff brackets and regular season finales on the way this week, here's a look at where the teams at North Hills stand:

Girls' Basketball

The girls' basketball team earned a 66-36 win over Woodland Hills last week to clinch a playoff berth for the second time in the last three seasons. With a section record of 4-6, the girls will travel for their first playoff game. They will learn their seed and opponent when the WPIAL playoff brackets are released on Monday afternoon.

Boys' Basketball

Like the girls, the boys clinched a playoff berth with two wins in section play last week. The Indians finish the regular season with an 8-6 section record, which puts them in a tie for second place. The WPIAL boys' basketball brackets will also be released on Monday afternoon.

Wrestling

The varsity wrestling team posted a big win against New Castle last week before participating in the Montour Duals over the weekend. The Indians went a perfect 6-0 and were led by several wrestlers with 6-0 individual records, including Asher Morvay (36 points) and Brady Rohaly (34).

Swimming & Diving

North Hills varsity swimmers and divers celebrated senior night last week with big wins over Penn Hills. The boys picked up a 102-53 win, while the girls won 98-79. Both teams are just under .500 on the season.

Gymnastics

Rayne Bronder and Abby McElhinney competed in the WPIAL Gymnastics Individual Championships over the weekend. Rayne competed in vault and scored 8.050, while Abby competed in all-around, where she scored 32.025 to finish in 18th.
Indoor Track

The indoor track and field team traveled to Youngstown over the weekend for its third indoor track meet of the season. Top-five finishers for North Hills included Kayla Flanigan (4th, 800M), the boys' 4X400 relay (3rd), and the boys' 4X800 relay (3rd).

Unified Bocce

The unified bocce team played a golden frame in last week's match against Avonworth. With an 8-4 record, the North Hills 1 squad is in the mix for a top-four spot in the standings and qualifying for the playoffs.

This week's home and away events can be found on the North Hills Athletics website.
