Winter sports weekly recap: December 8-13
Matthew McGinnis

The winter sports season is in full swing. With the first week and a half of regular season competitions in the books, here's a look at how our teams have begun their winter campaigns:

Girls' Basketball

The girls' basketball team has one win so far this season, a 46-43 victory over Fox Chapel. Despite an overall record of 1-4 to start the winter, the girls have been competitive, with three of their four losses coming by four points or fewer.

Boys' Basketball

Boys' basketball is off to a 3-2 start this season, with their most notable win being an 83-80 victory over Shaler Area in a game where North Hills trailed by 19. In section play, the boys are 0-1.

Wrestling

The varsity wrestling team started the season with a third-place finish at the Chartiers-Houston Tournament. Last week, the team lost to North Allegheny, then hosted the North Hills Duals over the weekend and captured first place. Senior Carter Morvay earned Outstanding Wrestler recognition.

Swimming & Diving

The varsity swimming and diving teams are three meets into the season, and both the boys and girls are 1-2. Both teams earned their victories over Chartiers Valley, 103-59 for the boys and 99-53 for the girls.

Gymnastics

Varsity gymnastics competed in the first meet of the season on Friday, taking on Fox Chapel and Pine-Richland. North Hills posted a score of 104, while the Rams and Foxes tallied 114 and 127, respectively.
Indoor Track

The indoor track team has not yet begun competition. The first meet of the winter season will take place in January.

Unified Bocce

The unified bocce team has yet to play a match. The first match of the season will be on Tuesday, December 16, at Fox Chapel.

This week's home and away events can be found on the North Hills Athletics website.
