Winter sports weekly recap: December 15-20

The winter break is just days away, but winter sports are heating up. Here's a look at where the teams at North Hills stand as 2025 winds down:

Girls' Basketball

Girls' basketball was perfect last week, earning two wins in two games against Canon-McMillan (44-43) and Butler (53-34). So far this season, the girls are 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the section schedule.

Boys' Basketball

The boys' basketball team posted a 2-1 record last week with a loss to Butler and wins over Seneca Valley (58-56) and Mars (75-62). Overall, the boys own a 5-3 record and are 1-2 in section play.

Wrestling

Varsity wrestling hosted West Allegheny last week and lost 44-22 to fall to 0-2 in dual meets this season. In the match, senior Carter Morvay recorded his 100th career win. Congratulations, Carter! 

Swimming & Diving

The varsity swimming and diving teams competed twice last week. The girls defeated Montour 88-83 before falling to Peters Township 101-82. Meanwhile, the boys beat Montour 92-55 and lost to Peters Township 110-66. Both teams are 2-3 so far this season.

Gymnastics

Varsity gymnastics hosted its first home meet of the season against Hempfield and Burrell over the weekend. The team will return to action after the holidays when it takes on North Allegheny and Montour on January 2.
Indoor Track

The indoor track team has not yet begun competition. The first meet of the winter season will take place in January.

Unified Bocce

The unified bocce team opened its season last week at Fox Chapel. The team will return to action on January 8 and play its first home match on January 13.
