The Giant Eagle in West View marked its grand reopening on Thursday, Aug. 6, following an extensive remodel, and celebrated the occasion by giving back to the local community.

As part of the festivities, Giant Eagle presented a $2,500 donation to the North Hills Foundation. The contribution will directly support the Foundation's Backpack Initiative and Pantry, which help provide food and essential items to North Hills students and families in need.

North Hills Foundation Board President Allison Mathis accepted the ceremonial check on behalf of the Foundation. North Hills School District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Mannarino, Director of Communications Heather Pelat, West View Elementary School Principal Jesse Simpson and West View Elementary School Assistant Principal Kaitlin Hoch were also on hand for the presentation.

During the event, Mathis spoke about the Foundation and its work to support North Hills students, staff and families. Through programs such as the Backpack Initiative and Pantry, the Foundation helps ensure students have access to nutritious food outside of the school day.

The North Hills School District and North Hills Foundation are grateful to Giant Eagle for its generosity and continued investment in the West View community. This meaningful donation will make a direct difference for local families
