Despite the snow, rain, and cold temperatures, the spring sports season is underway. Here's a look at how the teams at North Hills are doing so far:

Softball

The girls' softball team emerges from spring break with a 1-4 record so far this season, despite only being outscored 19-21 across their games. The girls' record includes a 1-3 mark in the early portion of the section schedule, and they have two important contests this week, including a home game against New Castle on Friday for senior day.

Baseball

The varsity baseball team had been on a cold streak since returning from its spring trip but got back in the win column with an impressive 3-1 win on the road against Butler last week. North Hills owns a 2-6 overall record on the season and is 1-2 in section play heading into a three-game set with Central Catholic this week.

Girls' Lacrosse

Girls' lacrosse has only played a handful of games this season due to bad weather, but the games they have played have been tightly contested. The girls will have a busy schedule this week with three games in five days.

Boys' Lacrosse

The boys' lacrosse team opened the spring season with a 1-5 record in the month of March, though four of the six games were decided by four goals or fewer. The boys will look to rebound this week with back-to-back road games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Flag Football

In its first month as a varsity sport, the girls' flag football team has been the hottest team at North Hills. The girls compiled a 3-1 record in March, highlighted by a 50-7 win over Seneca Valley in the home opener. The girls will look to keep the momentum going as they face Mars and Pine-Richland this week.

Boys' Tennis

Rain and cold temperatures wreaked havoc on the boys' tennis schedule in March. The team has posted a 0-3 record so far this season and played in the section singles competition last week. The boys are scheduled to begin this week with three matches in three days.
Boys' Volleyball

The boys' volleyball team is 2-2 to start the season, earning its wins by sweeping both Moon and Mars. With a 0-1 section record so far, the team will look to claim its first section win this week with matches against Fox Chapel and Penn Hills.

Track

The varsity track team has run three times so far this season, including the South Hills Classic, where the team had a strong showing. Emerson Schall (javelin), Cody Miller (100M), and Brody Diehl (triple jump) all claimed first place in their respective events, while 28 others earned top-five finishes.

This week's home and away events can be found on the North Hills Athletics website.
