North Hills students showcase leadership at Crisis Center North Conference

CALL at Crisis Center North
Heather Pelat

High school students from CALL (Challenging Athletes to be Lifelong Learners) and the high school/elementary school mentor programs represented North Hills at Crisis Center North’s Student Conference and Luncheon on April 15.

The students proudly presented their work, shared their experiences and reflected on how these initiatives are helping shape leadership, character and connection within our schools.

Watch the video shared by CALL participants below.

Former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch served as the event’s keynote speaker, reminding students to lead with purpose and be resilient.

CALL is an eight-week leadership program offered through Crisis Center North, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization dedicated to intervention, support, and education for victims of domestic violence. The organization also partners with schools to offer programs that build community and foster social skills.

North Hills junior student-athletes who participated in CALL became peer mentors to eighth-grade students, providing support as they prepare to transition to high school.
