North Hills students mark International Dot Day with crafts, themed lessons

North Hills students across the district celebrated International Dot Day on Monday, September 16.

Observed annually on or around September 15, International Dot Day is inspired by author Peter H. Reynolds’ book “The Dot,” which teaches creativity, courage and collaboration. In “the Dot,” a teacher dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark.” What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing inspiring children and adults around the globe.

On Monday, students read the story “The Dot” and participated in lessons and activities to inspire students to make their mark and see where it takes them! Students and staff were encouraged to wear polka dots as part of the festivities.

Happy International Dot Day, North Hills!
