North Hills High School World Language Department awarded prestigious Golden Globe

This past spring, North Hills High School's World Language Department was again awarded the prestigious Golden Globe award from the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association (PSMLA).

PSMLA Exemplary Program (PEP) Awards recognize and honor exemplary high school world language programs, and the Golden Globe is the association's highest honor.

North Hills is one of just 11 schools in the state to receive this top distinction. The designation is good for two years through 2028.

The North Hills High School World Language Department has received a PEP Award since 2014 and has been designated a Golden Globe school since 2018.

PEP Awards are given to departments that demonstrate a rigorous, proficiency-based approach to teaching and learning, provide a variety of learning opportunities for students, and collaborate and engage in frequent professional development.

North Hills offers three languages at both the high school and middle school: French, German, and Spanish. Latin is also available at the high school where University of Pittsburgh College in High School courses are also available.

Sixty-five percent of eligible students are enrolled in a World Language course at North Hills High School.
