North Hills High School launches peer mentorship program at West View Elementary

West View peer mentor program
Heather Pelat

On Friday, Feb. 28, North Hills High School students visited West View Elementary School to kick off a new peer mentorship program with third grade students.

High school participants were selected based on counselor recommendations and will serve as positive role models, building connections with their younger peers to help strengthen their learning.

Additional visits are scheduled for March and May. While the program is currently exclusive to West View, it could be expanded to other elementary schools in the future.

Developed in collaboration with Crisis Center North, this initiative provides students with valuable opportunities to enhance leadership skills, build confidence and develop a strong sense of responsibility.

Through engaging activities and meaningful conversations, mentors create a supportive and inclusive school environment while promoting social-emotional learning. Their dedication underscores the power of mentorship in fostering empathy, respect and connection across grade levels.
