The North Hills High School boys golf team recently took its training beyond the course with a visit to Performance Unlimited, where student-athletes participated in Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) assessments designed to help improve their golf performance.

TPI is a leading golf health and fitness organization that studies how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Through a series of physical assessments, trained professionals can identify mobility, strength and movement limitations that may affect a golfer's swing.

During the visit, Performance Unlimited's TPI-certified experts Bill Shrock and Rick Deiblodt worked with North Hills golfers to complete individual physical screenings. The assessments helped identify areas of strength as well as potential limitations for each player, with the goal of developing individualized plans to improve the connection between their bodies and their golf swings.

The experience gave the golfers a better understanding of how their movement and physical abilities can impact their performance on the course and provided strategies they can use as they continue through the season.

The visit also included a little friendly competition. Between assessments, physical therapist Jonas Chan and intern Joe hosted a three-swing golf competition, with a Chick-fil-A gift card going to the winner.

Performance Unlimited provided the entire experience at no cost to the team or North Hills School District. We are grateful to their team for welcoming our student-athletes and providing this unique opportunity to learn more about their game and ways they can continue to improve both on and off the course.
