Longtime North Hills teacher, coach Rick Locaitis among 2025 WPIAL Hall of Fame class

Longtime North Hills School District teacher and counselor Rick Locaitis is among the 2025 inductees into the WPIAL Hall of Fame.

Locaitis served more than 50 years as a PIAA official in football, basketball, baseball, soccer, softball and volleyball, and remains an active PIAA official in baseball, basketball, football and soccer for the WPIAL today.

During his tenure, Rick officiated three PIAA basketball championship games, two PIAA baseball championship games and one PIAA football championship game, as well as numerous WPIAL championship games in basketball, baseball and football. He also worked numerous basketball and football games at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.

Rick worked for North Hills for 35 years before his retirement in 2005. He also spent 16 seasons as head coach of North Hills baseball, and also coached basketball at North Hills, Serra Catholic and South Side Catholic.

His three children, Kristen, Erin and Ryan, all graduated from North Hills and six of his grandchildren currently attend or recently graduated from the district. Additionally, his daughter Kristen and son-in-law Vince Pollaro are sixth grade teachers at North Hills Middle School.

Rick is one of 15 inductees in the WPIAL's 2025 class. This year’s induction banquet will be held on Friday, June 6 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Greentree.
