This week, senior Ellie Kim captured the WPIAL Class 3A Section 2 tennis singles championship.

Kim began competition on Wednesday, winning her first two matches with ease (10-0 and 10-2) to advance to the semifinals. There, she was efficient again, winning 6-0, 6-1 to clinch a spot in the final on Thursday.

Last year, Kim also qualified for the final of the section singles tournament before falling to the top seed out of Pine-Richland. This time around, the roles were reversed, as she won 6-1, 6-1 to claim the title. She's the first North Hills girl to win a section singles championship in over 20 years.

With her win, Kim is now set to play in the WPIAL Girls' Tennis Singles Championships next week. She'll look to become the first North Hills girl to win a WPIAL singles championship.

In addition to Kim, senior Adelaide Seigworth also competed in the section singles. She fell after a hard fought match on Wednesday.

Congratulations to both section singles competitors and to Ellie on winning the 3A Section 2 singles title!
