The North Hills High School choral program will hold the 12th annual Madrigal Dinner on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church Celebration Center at 517 Sangree Road in Ross Township. The choir is pleased to hold this event in person again after scheduling complications forced it to be incorporated into the holiday choral concert last year. Sponsored by the North Hills Choral Parents Association, this event brings to life the medieval banquet feasts in a holiday themed night of music, drama, and dinner!

The evening will include a home-cooked pasta meal served by choir members, while the Madrigal Players will present a 15th century-style skit in period costumes with music provided by the Madrigal Singers composed of North Hills High School choir students.

This year’s skit, "The Peasant, the Prince, the Boot, and the Mirror," involves a search for a pretender to the throne to replace the aging king, and an audience member just might fit the bill, or the Royal Boot as this case may be. Hilarity ensues as the action turns into a drama-filled courtroom, a mix-up in the Royal Nursery, and the mirror finally showing who will be the next king.

A Madrigal dinner is a 21st century recreation of the Renaissance feasts held in the great baronial halls throughout England during the 12 days of Christmas. The feasts were filled with stunning pageantry, bawdy humor, endless amounts of succulent food and extraordinary music.

Raffle baskets will be available during the evening. Proceeds will benefit the North Hills Choral Program’s continuing activities, including this year’s high school music department performance tour to Ohio to compete in the Music in the Parks festival at Cedar Point and tour the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased with a credit card online at www.nhchoiranddrama.net. Seating is limited, so reservations are strongly encouraged.
