Is your third grader interested in playing an instrument next year? Join us on Monday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the North Hills Middle School auditorium for our annual elementary band and orchestra demonstration night.

The night will include a short presentation about our elementary instrumental music program followed by a demonstration of each instrument offered in fourth grade. The night will also include a question and answer session. Parents and students are welcome!

The following instruments are offered to elementary students:

  • Brass Family: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba
  • Percussion Family: Total Percussion (Orchestra Bells, Snare Drum and Bass Drum)
  • String Family: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
  • Woodwind Family: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone

Please have your student join our Google Classroom so that you can learn about instruments offered, receive information about our program, and register for the chosen instrument once the registration window opens. The class code is BPY2CBW.

Instrument fittings will take place at each elementary school later this spring. During fittings, our music teachers aim to match students to instruments that fit both their preference and specific physical and musical considerations. Students will be given the opportunity to try up to three instruments and will be sent home with a recommendation from our teachers.

All students who are present at school will have the opportunity to participate in a fitting. If your child is absent the day of the fitting, please email the appropriate teacher below for alternate options. If you would prefer that your student not participate in a fitting, please let their homeroom teacher know in advance.
